Spring 2015 Certificate in Adobe Courses

Winter and early spring are great times for designing and planning an adobe structure. The first 2 classes offered below take you through the steps of designing a passive solar adobe structure and familiarizing yourself with the New Mexico Earthen Building Materials Code as well as the standard permitting and inspection process. In class three of the spring semester sequence - History & Basics of Adobe Construction - we'll get out into the field and learn the basics of building with adobe by focusing on soil testing and the entire adobe brickmaking process. Finally, as the weather warms later in the spring, we'll show you how to install foundation types which work well for adobe structures. We look forward to working with you this spring!
